Finley's Pirate Party!

I've wanted to get this posted for some time now but time has slipped away! Last month we celebrated my nieces 5th birthday. Finley just had to have a pirate themed party- which was so, so cute! My in-laws have made such a wonderful cottage home just north of here in Mckinney, TX and we were able to enjoy this party in the perfect backyard setting- complete with bounce house and all! This cake is one of my favorites as of late. Most importantly, Finley loved it! I have included a few additional photos from the party. Can't wait to see what miss Finley dreams up next year!!

February Recap

Maple Pecan cupcakes

I have wanted to create a new flavor for cupcakes/cake for a while now, and I finally got a chance to experiment this weekend. I bought a beautiful glass jar of organic maple syrup a while back, and I decided it was time to use it. My family and friends might find that a bit odd, knowing that I do not like syrup on ANYTHING, but I thought it was a good time to broaden my horizons. I was extremely happy that I did. This is by far my new favorite cupcake! I am so happy with how these turned out and wanted you to know that there is a new flavor for Daily Dose of Sweet: Maple Pecan Cupcakes with Caramel Buttercream. I’d love to make some for you!

Owls

It seems that all things owl are quite the craze these days, and I must say that I'm totally OK with it because I think they are adorable! They make for some fun sweets and I was recently able to make some owl sugar cookies and an owl cake for two different baby showers, and it has been so, so fun! 

 I made the sugar cookies for a sweet friend of mine that is about to have another little niece, and the cake was for a teacher at my school that is having a little boy named Levi (love that name!). Hope you guys enjoy!

Lately

Well as you guys know, Christmas always approaches so quickly after thanksgiving and things around here have been quite hectic with wrapping up a school semester, fulfilling orders, christmas shopping, and many family and friend outings. All wonderful things, but needless to say, it has been hard to keep the blog updated this last month! This is SO unfortunate because this is definitely my most favorite time of year! So I wanted to throw a quick post up with a few of my Christmas and Thanksgiving favorites. Some of the photography isn't great because most of the images were taken last minute! Sorry for that. My husband tries to teach me often but I have a ways to go! 

The neighborhood I grew up in, Lake Highlands, has a Christmas home tour every year. One of my mother-in-law's clients home was on tour this year and I had the opportunity to make this fun little gingerbread house cake to have on display throughout the tour. I didn't get to make an actual gingerbread house this year so doing this cake definitely made up for that!! 

I also made some cookies to go along with it! 

I also had the wonderful opportunity to make many, many christmas sugar cookies this season. SO fun for me! Here are a few of them...

I know that I also promised to put up some Thanksgiving cookies last month and failed to do so. Sorry I flip flopped Christmas and Thanksgiving but here they are...
